Our Call and Preparation

"But great are the promises of the Lord unto those who are upon the isles of the sea" 2 Nephi 10:21

On September 19, 2016 Johelen and I received our call to serve as missionaries in the Praia, Cape Verde mission beginning in March of 2017.  We were over joyed!  Immediately our Ward family stepped in and began helping us in important ways.  We are so very grateful.

By January 26th, 2017, four months and significant preparation had passed. We had sold and vacated our home in Liberty, Missouri (after replacing the roof which was totaled by hail the day we signed the sales contract).  Our remaining possessions went to storage after finding homes for much of the furniture, the piano, our food storage, vehicles, and a sweet family pet.  There were miracles.

February 2017 found us living in the basement apartment of Dan and Kelli's country home for the month before our March 6 departure for the Missionary Training Center (MTC).  Dan and Kelli raise chickens!  And, happily, we anticipate working with chickens in our role as humanitarian missionaries.  Dan helped us prepare by teaching us how to care for the "ladies."  We pray for blessings for our wonderful friends who have helped us so much.
